The McDowell Volunteer Fire Department is an entirely volunteer run organization which operates entirely on resident donations, fundraising activities, and other contributions. MVFD does not bill for any services rendered nor do we obtain any assistance from the County or State.

    We are extremely grateful for all the support we have received since our inception in 1978. Through the generosity of the supporters over the years, we have been able to provide the Stonewall Fire District as well as the remaining areas of the county and surrounding areas with these emergency operations.

    As we celebrated our 30th Anniversary on July 6th 2008, the McDowell Volunteer Fire Department strives on to continue providing the committed service to the community in which we ourselves are members.

    In the dead of night, in the height of the storm, and the coldest of winter days, or the hottest of summer heat, our members are ready and willing to provide our services whenever requested. When summoned we quickly respond to fires involving homes, vehicles, grass and woodlands, as well as motor vehicle crashes, search and rescue operations, farm accidents just to name a few examples of the calls in which we have been requested to in the past.

   

    As the expenses continue to mount for the operations of our vital operations, it is becoming increasingly difficult to fund our organization. Your previous support is greatly appreciated and again, we wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for you. We, the McDowell Volunteer Fire Department are here by asking for your consideration in a tax-deductible donation to assist us in funding the operating expenses of the our department.

    The third option is to stop by and visit us. We meet the second Monday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at the McDowell Fire Station located at 102 Bull Pasture River Rd.

    The McDowell Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary are continuously accepting applications for membership. If you are interested in joining our department or Ladies Auxiliary, please come and join us. Both groups meet on the second Monday of every month at 730 p.m. at the McDowell Fire Station.
